Pole vaulting is a multifaceted discipline that can be challenging for most coaches. It is important to start guided pole vault training as early as possible in order to identify potential talent and to introduce young athletes to this complex and exciting sport. In cooperation with the Football and Athletics Association of Westphalia (FLVW), we offer further training on May 24th in Recklinghausen.
What kind of poles are needed to start a training group and to teach young athletes how to jump with a bent pole as quickly as possible, with only a few training sessions, in order to increase success and enjoyment of training? How should the length and firmness of the poles be coordinated to achieve the best possible training results? Why can’t the manufacturer’s specifications for stiffness be compared 1:1, and how do you convert the specifications? And how do you teach a young jumper a safe technique, and what exercises do you use?
These and other questions will be answered by speakers Lars Börgeling (former Vice European Champion) and Rens Blom (former World Champion) during the Coach Training in Recklinghausen on Friday, May 24th. In addition, the participants will shadow Lars Börgeling and Rens Blom during the Market Square Jumping and perform various observation tasks.
